Bentonite Clay

Bentonite Clay

Bentonite clay is a natural, mineral-rich clay derived from volcanic ash. It is highly absorbent and known for its ability to detoxify, purify, and balance the skin by drawing out impurities, excess oil, and toxins. Commonly used in skincare for masks, cleansers, and spot treatments, it helps with acne, oil control, and soothing irritated skin.

Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture to prevent clumping. Keep in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
Shelf life: Indefinite if stored properly (does not expire but can lose effectiveness if contaminated).

Unrefined Bentonite Clay: Contains more natural minerals and is often grey or greenish in colour.
Refined Bentonite Clay: Processed for purity, often white or light grey, used in cosmetic recipes.

Not essential but highly beneficial for deep cleansing, oil control, and skin rejuvenation. Ideal for face masks, hair treatments, and body wraps.

Fine, soft powder in grey, green, or beige tones, depending on the source.

Mild, earthy scent with no added fragrance.

Not water-soluble – Forms a suspension in water rather than dissolving.
Compatible with oils, aloe vera, honey, and essential oils for enhanced skincare benefits.

Detoxifies & Purifies – Pulls out dirt, toxins, and pollutants from the skin.
Balances Oil Production – Helps control excess sebum for clearer skin.
Exfoliates Gently – Removes dead skin cells for a smoother complexion.
Reduces Acne & Blemishes – Fights breakouts by absorbing oil and bacteria.
Soothes & Calms Skin – Reduces redness, irritation, and inflammation.

pH Range: 8.5 to 10 (Highly alkaline)

Very high – Bentonite clay can absorb 3 to 5 times its weight in water, making it one of the most absorbent clays. It has strong oil and impurity-drawing properties, which can be beneficial for deep cleansing but may be drying for some skin types.

5-100% in masks, scrubs, and skincare recipes.
1-10% in cleansers, soaps, and exfoliating products.
